LECOANET HEMANT MENSWEAR COLLECTION-Radical and Revolutionary Hallmark

Radical and revolutionary is the simplest way of describing Lecoanet Hemant's menswear collection. This Indo German – French Duo launched their première men's wear collection only recently. Experimenting with his own attire got Hemant interested in designing for modern Indian men. "It's India's future of India that excites me, not the past nor present alone".
Taking inspiration from his roots, Hemant designs for men who have no qualms in wearing their heritage- albeit in a stylized and creative manner. Interestingly enough the contemporary twist makes this collection intriguing to Westerners -who angle for a slice of 'Indian international'. Using cheeky everyday motifs, Shiavkashi Cracker Wrappers, Ladoo Ram insignia and even his pet name 'Heera Munda' makes the visual repertoire something every desi dude can connect to.
"My clothes have a point of view; daringly different but subtle style statements which are unfussy. I design for a thinker, a strong individual and this applies to the everyday Indian who puts themselves himself out in an overtly competitive world and yet manages to make his identity felt". Very true, hence style icons like AD Singh (the famous restaurateur) and Wendell Roderick are fans of his work and order his collectable prêt.
Using canvas, hand dyed poplin, suede worked into snake skin-like texture were given elegant cuts. Cowboy Suits, clean shirts, structured tee-shirts with witty statements form his design directory. The logo is used with great subtlety, as he feels some of the Indian men are more 'patriarchal patrons', very nervous of working their persona through attire. Ruggedness is something that can be worked spectacularly into their wardrobes through this collection.
His influence is derived from 'The Secret Life of Walter M'. It's all about the inner fantasies and fetish. In a culture where men are circumspect and conservative, Hemant tempts them to dream, to take on their forbidden sides, seek out their darkest emotional secrets and wear it proudly. Adding the final pizzazz is his exquisitely styled belts, hammered logos, coolie belts with smattering of studded Swarovski and a wide range of perfectly fit shoes to add the finale to his Shiavkashi Sizzler.
